Easter Egg Hunt
The annual egg hunt took place as as normal on the
common on Easter Sunday. Although it was cold and hail came down just
before the start a great crowd turned out to find the hundreds of eggs
that had been hidden. This event has been arranged by Beryl Coleman
for several years however this year she passed on the duty to Garry
Muchmore and Jo Kinder who did a fantastic job. Well done.
Biodigester at Gibbet Moor
Latest news here is that following the planning
meeting at county the decision has postponed until the next meeting at
the beginning of June.
Rackenford, Templeton and Stoodliegh have all put in
objections.

Trinity Well Officially Open
Betty Kirby did the honors by cutting the ribbon to
officially open the reinstated Trinity Well. The style is based on the
traditional building. The school have added information leaflets
inside shedding a little light on not only the history of the well but
also about our local area and walks and the wild life that can been
seen in the area.

Village Day
What a great day. Loads of people, loads of fun.
Well done to all the committee who put on such a fun event. Hope you
made lots of money.

Trinity Well Update
The
building was finished on time for the February deadline. The weather
has held up the finishing touches, and Michael Lane has had some
unexpected difficulties with the solar light. These are now solved and
he is about to put the glass panel in the floor which will be lit from
underneath to show the water. The pump has long been ready to install
but has had to wait for this. Barry Cowell finished the noticeboards
some time ago and as soon as the ground is dry enough Fred Phillips
will install the main (outside) board to the right of the well. This
will hold the maps of the footpaths. The boards inside will have
information on what can be seen at certain times of year, a history of
the Well, and a list of donors.
The ground will be leveled, grass seed sown and
snowdrops planted. We have paving stones to go around the Well and in
front of the noticeboard. Finally, the benches moved when the
churchyard was extended will be re-installed nearby. The Parish
Council plans a Grand Opening on Village Day.
A361 N Devon Link Road ........history of
motor accidents near Rackenford?
Some of you will remember the accident that happened
on the link road late last year when 3 women were hurt when their car
hit a tree after hitting black ice.
I've been contacted by a relative of the victims
requesting any information he can get on incidents that have occurred
on the A361 near Rackenford.
I've posted his original mail on the message board
page. If anyone has anything then he would like to hear from you. Click

Village Shop AGM Minutes.
The shop has been run by
volunteers for the past couple of months and, thanks to the hard work
of all of those people willing to give up their free time the shop is
now a huge success. However no matter how hard the volunteers work,
without the support of the community the shop would have no doubt
closed. So I think everyone should be very proud of the part they have
played in keeping this valuable asset viable.
The shop now offers a
full range of groceries, household essentials, newspapers and
magazines. Fresh fruit and veg can either be bought direct from the
shop or orders can be placed for collection. If you want to contact
the shop they do have their own email address rackenford.shop@btconnect.com
Wind Farms / Biogas
Plant Forum
You will have heard that
there are now several wind farms proposed for our area. If these
companies get the permission for their sites we will have around 27
turbines around Rackenford. To find out more about
the campaign to try to restrict these controversial developments click here.
We also have a proposed
£25m project to build a biogas digester plant at Gibbet Moor big
enough to supply all of Tiverton's 20,000 population. To
find out more click here.
Will the Biogas plant
negate the necessity for these wind farms or will we get both? Are
these developments too much for our countryside? Let me know your
thoughts.
